It is with sadness, although deep gratitude, that we say farewell to Mel Hewitt, our Partnership Development and Public Relations Lead in the Comms Team at XP Trust. Mel has been with us almost since the start of XP and has contributed significantly to building links and partnerships that have brought expertise, wisdom and income to our Trust enabling our students to experience life changing opportunities.
Mel has calmly supported schools in difficult moments and has acted as an experienced and wise counsel for many staff and students in our schools and Trust. Mel has established some deep and long lasting partnerships with The Edge Foundation and the Wood Foundation that has led to hundreds of visitors coming to our schools to see and feel both Crew and Learning Expeditions and has established a national reputation as being a lead in her work in this field. Clearly, Mel is highly regarded at both XP Trust and beyond.
However, the part of Mel that we will miss the most at XP is her deep kindness and compassion. I have never met a human being who is so steeped in compassion and regard for others – no matter what is happening in her own life Mel always has a kind word, a considerate thought, and concern for the well being of others. It is Mel’s compassion that has been her greatest achievement in her work for us and we will miss her profoundly because of this!!
