If you are looking for a model of schooling that dares to break the mould, and has inclusion at the heart of its curriculum with the aim of improving the life chances for young people in Gateshead, then this might be for you.
XP Gateshead is a new mainstream 11-16 Secondary School that opened in August 2021. We are a deliberately-sized school with each year having 50 students, we currently have 250 students in years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 and are looking forward to our first set of GCSE results.
We are looking for great people who want to become even better to join our school.
We are looking to recruit a Phase Leader to join our inclusion team at XP Gateshead. This is a pivotal role in ensuring the personal, academic, and social development of students within a specific phase in our school. We have three phases: a Year 7 phase which includes transition, then Year 8/9 and finally Year 10/11. You will lead staff to implement school-wide expectations, to develop as Crew Leaders and support student success through effective safeguarding, attendance, SEND provision, work with families and wider stakeholders.
You could join our team at the newest of our extraordinary schools: XP Gateshead. Our rigorous 3-D approach develops activism, leadership and equity in our students by creating beautiful work, which develops character and ensures that our children achieve academic success.
You can read our recent Ofsted report here.
We believe a person is judged by their character and the quality of work they produce.. We teach through cross-curricular learning expeditions where students address important guiding questions, making connections between disciplines and across time. Our pastoral structure of “Crews” working together in phase teams is integral to facilitating the above.
As a part of our team you would also be a Crew Leader for 12-13 students, providing pastoral support and challenge to your Crew of 12 or 13 students, spending 45 minutes with them every day to ensure that they produce beautiful work, grow in character and see academic success. You will get to know your Crew extremely well and will be the first point of contact in the school for their families. As a Phase Leader you would model great practice to other Crew Leaders within your team.
XP Trust is a group of internationally renowned schools, hosting hundreds of visitors from across the world every year.
“If I were to make a list of the best schools in the world, XP would be on that list.”, Ron Berger, Chief Academic Officer of Expeditionary Learning, a network of over 160 schools in the USA.
XP Gateshead is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service .
