At XP Trust, we encourage our students to use their voice to express themselves about their school, crew and community. They make stands, they apologise for their actions or they make appreciations when they feel something has been done right.
We love it when our visitors use their voice to express how they feel about XP, too! Here’s some appreciations from people who’ve visited our schools recently…
“I have seen many school start-ups over the past 40 years, but I never witnessed a more remarkable beginning than that of XP.”
RON BERGER, EL Education (USA)
“As a teacher (sadly based too far away to come and work with you!), reading about your curriculum and ethos has blown me away! It is everything that education should be…treating students with respect and a level of maturity that enables them to find their own path to success. This is sadly missing from all other schools in the country. I will certainly be keeping an eye on your progress and really hope that your influence spreads throughout the sector! Great work and the best of luck to you all in the future!”
SAM MULHOLLAND
“Reading the article in the Saturday Times last October about the XP school has literally restored my faith in education and in adults to guide the next generation. (I say this despite my older two children doing well at a local grammar). The motto ‘Above all Compassion’ is so dear to my heart as it is how I have attempted to raise my three boys, and it is a value that urgently needs to be embraced by wider society and which has the power to change the world in my view. The values and systems of our traditional education system have long needed an update to better serve our children, teachers and communities and I am so inspired to see you doing just that, encouraging individuality and not using a ‘power over’ structure.”
HARRIET RUDD
“I’ve only been teaching a few years, but it’s definitely the most inspired I’ve ever been from a school visit!“

“Inspirational and challenging visit. The commitment to collaboration is fantastic.“
A RECENT VISITOR
“An absolutely superb day – such openness, honesty and access to students and all levels of staff made for an incredibly useful day. Being able to see from vision to impact, through implementation meant that I left not only inspired, but also determined that change was possible. A heady mix of challenge and support.“
A RECENT VISITOR
“Here at the centre community engagement is incredibly important to us. One of the most important strands of this is with our work with the XP School Trust. In recent years we’ve collaborated on a number of projects ranging from painting of elephant sculptures to art installations celebrating the Suffragettes, or supporting our local food bank. This helps us to be part of the Doncaster community and is part of the Centre’s ethos now.”
IAN LEECH, Marketing Manager, Frenchgate Centre
XP Doncaster
“Just a quick message to say how impressed we were with year 7’s Presentation of Learning last night. It was lovely to see some of the kids in Tyler’s year & it was especially brilliant to see his confidence in presenting to us (& not even worrying about it prior to the day), also his school work has improved no end from the previous year which is amazing. It was also lovely to speak to Sydelia & listen to her say how she never understood Maths in her old school but is starting to grasp it since being at XP.”

Plover
“I just wanted to let you know that Rowan, Rufus and Anwyn had the best day ever (their words) and love Plover! Long may it continue! I was particularly grateful for the updates I received throughout the day and the extra warm welcome we all received. It was a lovely welcome to the school and the kids had a wonderful day. They’re so excited by the launching of the expeditions and the trips planned. It’s lovely to have a buzz about going to school again. Can’t thank you all enough.”

XP Gateshead
“Whatever you are doing XP it’s amazing. A day after returning from Ulswater, my son told me that he genuinely feels included and ‘I really feel like we are family’ – referring to his crew. I almost cried. He’s full of motivation now.”
AN XPG PARENT
“WOW is all I can say! My son’s attitude to school has done a U-turn. ‘I can’t wait to go back to school’ he told me. Long may it continue, one very proud Mam.”
AN XPG PARENT
“I’m still asking questions and still she has answers. She seems so much more confident and out of her shell. We’re so happy we chose XP. Bring on 5 years!! Amazing times for our kids.”
