Welcome to the first official edition of our XP Unpacked magazine. The purpose of this publication is to share stories of the beautiful work our staff and students engage in every day in our Trust. These articles primarily focus on Crew and Expeditions and showcase the positive difference we are making to ourselves, each other and the wider community. In addition, a number of articles have been written by friends and partners of our Trust which highlight the wider impact of our work and how we are supporting and learning from like-minded educators, from South Australia to Barcelona, who share our desire to empower learners to make the world a better place.
Our feature article, in this issue, is written by Ron Berger – our long time friend, mentor and inspiration – who focuses on his recent travels and the community of educators who are making a significant and positive difference in their respective communities and the wider world and the need for us to work together for good.
It is a compelling read.
I hope you enjoy our latest edition, and if you feel inspired, please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] on how to submit an article for our next edition coming later this year!

XP Unpacked Edition 0

Our pilot issue of XPUnpacked was launched on Friday 24 January 2025, and featured a range of articles highlighting high quality Learning Expeditions and Crew experiences; and a moving tribute from Martin Said to one of our dearest friends and staunchest supporters, David Price.
This is just the start! If you want to contribute to our next edition in the Summer of 2025, do not hesitate to contact me directly with your proposal or watch out for future communications about how you can be part of the next publication.
By shining a light on beautiful work, sharing powerful experiences and highlighting how students are becoming agents for positive social change in service to their community and the wider world, we are capturing what makes our work so successful and compelling.
The content below pulls together all references, featured links and additional content from the contributor articles. Reading these articles reminded me that it is an honour and privilege to be your colleague.
