Why should I choose an XP school for my child?
At XP, we don’t just deliver a curriculum – we create meaningful learning experiences that inspire students to make a difference in the world around them. Our schools are built around strong relationships, purposeful projects, and a deep sense of community. We teach through Expeditions – where we ask our students to engage in real work, for real audiences, with real impact. Whether it’s presenting their learning at a public event or producing work that leaves a legacy in the community, our students are empowered to take ownership of their education.

Every student is part of a Crew – a small, consistent group that meets daily and ensures that no one is anonymous. This structure builds character, supports wellbeing, and encourages accountability in all areas of school life. Our approach to education is three-dimensional, focusing equally on academic success, beautiful work, and character growth. We believe that success isn’t just about what you know, but how you contribute and who you become along the way.

At the heart of XP are our character traits, which shape everything we do: Respect, Courage, Integrity, Craftsmanship and Quality, and above all Compassion. These values are lived out in classrooms, during Expeditions, and in the way students support one another as Crew. They are not just words on a wall – they are habits, choices, and expectations that guide students to become thoughtful, kind, and courageous individuals.

Choosing an XP school means joining a movement to do education differently – and better.

Learning Expeditions: Real-World Learning That Matters
At XP Trust, learning is an adventure. Our students engage in Learning Expeditions – interdisciplinary projects that connect subjects like science, history, and English around a central, compelling question.
These Expeditions are designed to:
- Foster deep understanding across subjects
- Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Encourage students to produce high-quality, meaningful work
Take this Expedition as an example, where students explored the guiding question, “How can we help our planet survive?”
The final product of this particular Expedition was a guide for building planters and greenhouses from recyclable materials found at home – but our students produce books, documentaries, campaigns and more.
Our approach ensures that learning is not only academically rigorous but also relevant and impactful.
Crew: Building Stronger Communities
Every student at XP Trust is part of a Crew – a small, supportive group that functions like a school family.
Crew sessions focus on:
- Academic support and goal setting
- Character development and reflection
- Team-building activities
This structure ensures that each student is known, supported, and challenged to be their best self.
As one of our students puts it, “In Crew, we learn to work together, support each other, and grow as individuals.”
We build Crew in a number of ways – both in the classroom and out. Here are some reflections on Crew from our Year 7 cohort – just three days after starting at XP.
Our Schools with Nursery Places
Our nurseries offer a warm, nurturing environment where children begin their learning journey through play, exploration, and care. We focus on building strong relationships and supporting each child’s development at their own pace. If you’re considering a place in one of our nurseries, we’d be happy to chat and show you what makes them so special.
Applications for Nursery places are now open – please apply online through Doncaster admissions here.
Alternatively contact [email protected] and we will point you in the right direction!
Beautiful Work in Early Years
At XP Trust, purposeful learning starts from day one. Even in Nursery and Reception, our youngest children are supported to do meaningful, creative, and beautiful work – the kind of work that makes them proud and leaves a legacy. Whether they’re writing and illustrating their first stories, learning through play, or helping to protect the planet through Expedition projects, we believe that even our smallest learners can do incredible things.
Because at XP, we don’t wait for children to grow up before expecting great things – we grow greatness from the very start.
