On Monday 27th January it was Holocaust Memorial Day.
This year it also marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp complex, and the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Bosnia.
The theme vision for commemoration and remembrance events this year was ‘For a Better Future’.
A morning at our Mansion house of readings, pledges, stories, reflection and two minutes silence was attended by Mayor Ros Jones, Rabbi Yonosan Golomb and speakers and children from across Doncaster.
XP’s contribution was a postcard featuring a painting created as part of the ‘Are We Really Free to Choose’ expedition, which on the reverse side invited guests at the event to write down their reflections on the day.
80 trees were also planted across the Borough as part of the commemorations.
